I'm trying to fix a friends' Mackie powered sub, and I'm soldering two electrolytics in the power supply. Using a Hakko soldering station (with a conical tip) and lead-free solder, I can't seem to get the joint hot enough to flow properly. I wasn't adding any flux to the joint beforehand.
I should just have to hold the iron tip to the lead and pad for 2 or 3 seconds, correct? The solder wasn't even beginning to melt at that point...
Going to try after work today with "normal" solder and rosin flux, but I'm wondering if it's the material I'm using that's causing problems, or something wrong that I'm doing.
Thanks in advance!
