You just converted his 2KVA transformer to a 500VA transformer.
VA ratings are based on regulation and temperature rise, both are directly related to the resistance of the wire and the current flowing through same.
If you run the maximum rated current through the transformer the I^2(R) losses will be the same for series or parallel connection, but the power delivered to the load will be 1/4 (from the half voltage).
