While power conditioners keep the nasties in the electrical lines out of your components, they also work the other way 'round. Digital devices (CD/DVD/DAC) generate noise of their own and left unchecked, can send this noise to other components through the AC line. Most power conditioners don't have seperate filters for each outlet. Plugging all of your components into one power conditioner still lets any noise generated by digital circuits get to the other components.
mkuller's recommendation is a good one. I have one conditioner on my CD player and one on my pre. The one on the disc player has the biggest effect.
