A little while ago I posted a design over in the PC audio forum that will work extremely well for this. See trhe link below.
It can be used as a dual voltage supply as is (just need two regulators) as long as the total current is not greater than 2A. If its going to be greater than two amps its best to build two separate supplies (you can put them in the same box).
A couple people have successfully built a dual voltage version of this so it can work.
For a recommendation as to what transformer to use for the 12V version, which can also be used for the 9V version, see my responses in the thread.

BTW I have been using a version of this with my squeezebox for a couple years now and it works extremely well.
