I just posted this in the 'speaker general' section.

Can a two way system have only one X-over filter. i.e. if the tweeter behaves, and slopes gently down (let's say at 2.5 MHz), could you add a 7" driver and slope it off at the high end to match at 2.5?.

This appears to be what Coincident Speaker's did with their Pure Reference speaker.
