Some observations from a non-electrician.
-Check code requirements concerning amp(eres) per foot of run to help determine gauge-the fact that you'll be running one amp(lifier) per home run in a residential setting almost assures that 12 ga will be fine, but you can always go larger if you desire.
-Assuming you have a modern wiring system (including panel) with a separate earth ground, you'll be running XX2 w/ ground (hot, neutral, bare wire ground). Even if you have an older home without a modern panel, I'd run XX2 w/ground and think seriously about updating your home wiring.
-Unprotected Romex in a living space is a code violation.
-If by 'running underneath a refrigerator' you mean running the wire on the bottom of a floor joist with a refrigerator on the floor above, I doubt that would be a consideration (especially compared to having the fridge plugged into the same line!), but others may differ (vibration, etc).
If you're having a licensed electrician do the work, he'll explain all of this in full. If you're doing the work, I'm just tossin' out some thoughts. Should be a big sonic improvement when you've finished.
"Dammit..."
