Tweakers' Asylum Tweaks for systems, rooms and Do It Yourself (DIY) help. FAQ. |

I picked up a small Emerson portable radio at the thrift shop for $2.98+tax, to use while i play disc golf. It only has a FM tuner & a tape input, but i figured i could use my CD cassette adopter from an portable CD player i had & use my mp3 player. It works fine, but the moter to the cassette engages. Does'nt seem to use all that much battery becuase there's no tape, (so to speak). What i would like to do is cut the input wires on the tape head (i have no intention of using cassette's) & run them to the head phone jack making a direct input for my mp3 player. I have a couple of questions i'm hoping someone can help me with. First, does the head phone jack have a phisical switch which turns the speakers off? And second does the play button still have to be engaged making the moter turn? Also any advice as to which wires are what (L,R,-,+,ect) would be helpfull. I can certainly live with it the way it is, as it sounds great...But i would like to rig it this way if possible, as it would certainly save batterys! Thanks for any advice. Tom
