Remember the Alps Black Beauty potentiometer? I'm getting a bit of noise through some points of the rotation of the Black Beauty volume pot in my Conrad Johnson PV-12A. I've tried spraying some Caig DeOxit through the access hole in the bottom of the pot, but still there's a bit of noise.
Can this potentiometer be taken apart for inspection and cleaning/repair. More importantly, can it be put back together again to work/still track properly as well as it did when originally manufactured?
Yes, I could replace it with something, but I'd rather do this only if I get fed up with the Alps (and I'm kinda close; I'd like something that provides closer tracking). I don't know that I'm up for multi-hundred US dollar replacement item, but I'd be happy to hear recommendations for something less pricey.
Thanks!
