That sounds feasible. Here's another question--how about a dead-front spec GFCI? Fewer parts might be better (but it would be interesting if someone has tested them).
Hubbell GFBF20 series
8 outlets would be sufficient, especially since I have a Hydra-4 daisy-chained for my front-end components.
