Hi,
The input resistor,(R102) to ground is 47K ohms.
3V/47K = .0638 milliamps required to output 3V signal into the amplifier.
To lose 1 volt would require 1V/.0000638A = 15.673 K ohm resistor.
Ohms law:
I*R = V or current times resistance = voltage.
V/R = I or Voltage divided by resistance = current
V/I =R or voltage divided by current = resistance
P= V*I or power = voltage times current. needed to select required wattage rating of the resistor.
I don't see a volume control on the schematic. What are you using to adjust the volume of the preamp?
