I've used several of these units and find that if you place it after the component it works best ...but you can try after the pre but the effect of buffering after the pre can yeild odd results. Though this does mean that each source will benift from the buffer assuming non of the odd effects.
think the odd effects are due to buffing a small signal may be some one can say why .... my thoughts are that its the volume pot and impedance?
