Thanks for the reply. I currently use Vandenhul Integration Hybrid ICs, which seem to be proprietary terminated, so i can't hardwire it to the board. I've read somewhere around here at Tweakers asylum that changing the rca plugs to something better (and also some better quality wire from audio pcb to plugs) *makes* a difference.

A pair of Cardas CTFA plugs would cost me around 20 USD, so i think I will try. (since the stock ones seem to be quite cheap). Can anyone with experience swapping plugs shed some light regarding my original question (taking out the line-out board, relais etc.)?
Why are there some muting transistors on the audio pcb when on the lineout there is a relay which also seems to mute the output when in stop?
