Tweakers' Asylum Tweaks for systems, rooms and Do It Yourself (DIY) help. FAQ. |

Sorry about the cross posting between here and T2, but I do want to cast a wide net here. I am stuck and hope someone can help. I am working on a vintage Gibson guitar amp (okay, I know that may be a bit outside the norm for AA, but - hey - you guys are GOOD) for my 12 year old. It is an early 1970s G-35a - a solid state design where Gibson took the old tube circuit and basically dropped in transistors where the tubes used to be. Here is my problem - it has an old opamp chip that is obsolete - an MFC8022A by Motorola. I have found a supplier that has a direct replacement, but it is $100 for one chip. Ouch. I hope someone out there may be able to suggest an alternative. I realize it probably won't be a drop-in replacement, but that is okay. As long as I know what leg is supposed to go where on the circuit, I can deal with that. Below is a link to the MFC8022A datasheet (assuming I did the link thing correctly). Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
