I grounded two of three of the chokes I have. Warm yes. Then I added a Power Enhancer and the sound drifted into being overly warm with the midrange sucked out. After much trial and error I found that grounding the chokes was a sonically bad thing, especially in conjunction with a PE. I removed the grounds and everything stabilised again and the result is far more natural and neutral with a nice mid range again.
After reporting this to Alan, he recommended never grounding the chokes as it increases the magnetic field inside the choke (closer to its maximum capacity) and doubles its current draw and increases inductance on the house wiring.
