I wouldn't advise using a resistor, especially as high as 10K, in series with the input unless you are interested in attenuating the signal and/or rolling off the highs also. Most amplifiers include a shunt capacitor on the input and a shunt resistor. With the resistor and capacitor in series you create a bandpass filter. There is a thread below in which DIY inline high pass filters was discussed.Dave
