Re: help with passive high pass filters

194.85.132.67

In my car audio life I tried Harrison F-mods which are (claimed to be) 2-order (?) RC filters (for car audio, but my guess is - real quality is the same). And (it didn't cost me anything - loaned) decided not to go with it. Imagine you have purchased your dream raw drivers, put them into a cabinet and hooked to a generic "3000 Hz - 2 order" crossover in a black box. These filters like this generic crossover just were not fit to the real in/out impedances of my source/amp. In my case, the HP filter also erased a lot of treble. I never had such impedance mismatch driving amp directly.

So my point is, the Low pass passive filter will work, but the High pass might not.
