Not really. If you leave copper wire bare at termination ends, it will quickly corrode and start developing a resistive barrier. This will increase heat dissipation, accelerate aging, finally it will start arching and burning leading to terrible sound and eventually a damage to the plug.
In order to avoid it it is better to solder the ends.
I want all my jobs to last 20 years not 1. I warranty them with my NAME not warranty slip.
