Hi there,

This is indeed broadly in line with my experiences....

Many of the modifcations I do to CD-Players center around cleaning up the powersupply lines in the Digital Section and reducing digital noise.

Combining that with Analogue Stages that do not suffer from IM due to RF (either very fast op-amps like the LM6172 or zero feedback or possibly fully passive output stages) and mechanical improvements (just put a piece of 5mm Plywood underneath the bottom plate) and you have adressed most of the problems inherent to consumer grade CD or DVD Players.

If you can justify (or afford) a well-designed low jitter Clock (like the Audiocom "Super-Clock") all the better for it.

What worries me is that I can still hear the effect of my "le CD-Flop" with small snipplets of Peter Belt Rainbow Foil attached to it.

Either I imagine things even under blind conditions or there is some physic at work we have so far ignored....

Luckily, even at it's best CD sounds pretty poor so I don't much concern myself with the why and rather listen to vinyl....

Ciao Thorsten
