Room Lens: trouble finding the 2.5 inch tubes

Looking in the Home Depot plumbing section, I don't see 2.5 inch PVC pipe for pressure or DWV applications. They have 2- or 3-inch, but nothing in between. Am I not looking close enough, in the right department, or should go to a regular plumbing supply?
I've read Jon's, Thorsten's, and many other notes but I haven't seen the real thing. Looks like the base could be fashioned out of 2 layers of MDF glued together and shaped accordingly - a drum sander on a drill press. Would adding some constrained layer damping between three-quarter MDF be advantageous?
