Added my power cord

205.130.17.188

I wish to thank Phil Sieg and Bob Myers! I added my power cord connection (IEC) and thought I'd tell you about what I did. I wanted to be able to play with various cords...especially Lloyd Walker's (right now I'm using a stock wire with the spiral "thang" that MusicDirect was selling awhile back for EMI and RFI rejection). I went the IEC route rather than hard wiring anything...BUT, my original cord ran directly to the fuse that Frank VanAlstine puts before the switch...I used Romex to connect from that point to the IEC connector (Van Alstine puts a lot of fuses in that amp, 1 on the hot lead and 1 each on outputs!).
The IEC had wierd designations and I hope I wired the hot lead on the right connector. The center post was labeled with the international ground symbol, but the others were "N" and "L"??? I figured L was line and wired the hot lead to it. The sound is quite a bit warmer, but I don't want to make any decisions with an air conditioner and 7 fans running in the house (Think there's any EMI in my lines?). It seems, however, that I have no, or at least a vague, center image...and that may be because the amp was off for over a week as was the CD player and preamp. So I'm going to wait until this heat wave is over, (Will it ever end?) then listen closely and then resolder the connections if I deem it necessary. So far, as I said, the sound is different, and has to be better than the chintzy stranded wire I removed...I'll keep you posted. Again, thanks!
