Jon, a few weeks ago, I had lunch with Richard Powers, president of Ultra Analog, and a PHD EE friend of mine, who works now in computer software, but years ago, designed D-A converters at Zeltex. We had a pleasant technical conversation at lunch, and afterward my EE friend asked me about the newest developments of digital audio. I played some 24-96K DVD discs from Chesky, etc. He knew the music well, but complained that his chest was tightening up from the sound of the DVD (Panasonic 310) with rfi filtering, etc. I then played a record for him with a MC cartridge. He said "That's better, I'm glad that I decided NOT to pursue digital analog design, if this is the best that they can do." Enough said. By the way, CD's sound worse on this set-up.
