That resistance will cause a voltage drop at the component. If it is below design limits, your unit might shut down, no? If it is in the design limit, how will that cause an audible difference? Easy to check what the output is at the speakers with a in limit voltage drop.
There was no implication of recepticle problem from the original poster, only an implied audible benefit he was seeking, obviously.
