Hi,
I built one a couple years back and used Vishay/Dale resistors, CDE electrolytics from Mouser. Film caps used were Auricap.
I built it into an Aluminum 12 by 12 Par - Metal mini rack case and powered it with 16 Alkaline D cells,( 8 WIRED IN SERIES FOR + AND 8 WIRED IN SERIES FOR - SUPPLY). I mounted the batterys in D cell holders inside the enclosure. Current draw is low, and after 1 year of use, batterys were still going strong. It sounded much better than a cheap little op amp based phono stage should in my opinion. It compared very favorably to my Gram Slee Amp 2 phono that I had, which cost much more.
It was a little more relaxed and smooth sounding than the Slee unit.
Excellent wide soundstage, detail, and room ambience from LP's.
I sold it last year on diy audio web site after getting the itch to try and build an all tube phono unit.
I think you will like it, and its simple and cheap to built. Tweakability factor large.
Good Luck,
mg16
