Some of these ribbon connectors are permanently mounted on the board and the ribbon slides into the slot and is locked down using very small tabs on the sides (i.e., the short dimension of the connector body). If you see small tabs there, you can pull them up with your fingernail or Xacto knife and the ribbon will slide out easily. If you try to re-install the ribbon without having the tabs in the open position, it will be very difficult. When the tabs are open, the ribbon slides in nice and easy, then push the tabs back down until they lock. Then you are done.
