RE: what to put between totem hawks and the floor?

isn't the whole idea of spike to couple to the floor not float on top of th carpet? I use .99 cent each hardened target arrow points under my speaker and they are solidly touching the MDF tops of my stand which are then actually screwed down with 6)3" screws right through the carpet. Making the bottom of the stand a direct attachment of the floor.

I would never consider putting something under the spikes unless it was basically part of the floor.
