Dave -The reason this works for me is that my carpeted floors are supported by wood joists (wood joists - plywood subfloor - carpet pad - carpet) which means that I have, for lack of a better description, a "springy" floor - it bounces up and down. So anything that I can do to create a stiffer floor or create a condition where I am not transferring my sub's energy into moving the floor will be a big help (the Home Theater review addressed this as well).
Your floor is a slab-on-grade construction which means it is very, very stiff. So none of these tweaks are going to have much of an effect on your sub.
