boconnell,I've bought threaded rods in Home Depot, they are not stainless steel though. But they are cheap and easy to cut with a cheap file. For stainless steel I guess you'll have to go through specialized chains, such as McMaster. There are also black ones that look like rods in Salamander racks. Expensive shipping, though.
For WAF, consider blueing regular steel ones. Gun shops sell chemicals for that. Please investigate how harmful it is, perhaps it has to wait for nice weather and working outside.
Be careful - your wife might like them so much she would like other furniture made the same way :-)
Drilling a hole in a threaded rod to install the spike is doable, but needs expertise (turner shop) and can be costly.
Here is how I solved the problem. Get three acorn nuts

and screw them onto the bottom of the threaded rod bars. The contact are will be minnuscule, not like spike, but close. Cost is negligible compared to wasting time to drive to turner's shop and paying a turner to do it for you.
As of 103.2 they are awesome, but they can be improved. The internal wiring is substandard. If you are willing to spend some time, it is worthwile to replace internal wiring and cheezy clips with 5-way binding posts and teflon silver wires (thin for tweeter, thick for woofer). You only need patience, solder gun and drill. You can keep the original parts if you decide to sell speakers one day.
