Tweakers' Asylum Tweaks for systems, rooms and Do It Yourself (DIY) help. FAQ. |

I've got new pair of speakers (Martin Logan Vantage), and they go deeper and have more bass than my previous speaker (Aerius i).I think I've got some bass feedback or augmentation happening. On some songs, the lower notes rumble, sometimes to the point where I think I hear rattling.
A few things I'm thinking...
> I'm amplifying vibrations. My preamp and CD player sit on a shelf in a cherry cabinet between my speakers (see link below to see my system pics on Audiogon). I've got some Aurios coming to try.
> I've got a corner that is causing some bass issues. Again, see the link below to see pictures, and look at the picture called "left". This is my left speaker. There is no left wall, it opens up to a hallway. But as you can see, there is a bare corner behind it, probably 2.5 ft.
I'm already adjusting the bass down on that left speaker to -8db (35hz), and this seems to have helped, but not on all songs.
Would a bass trap be what I want? Do I need more than one bass trap? If I need a bass trap, what size, diameter, type?
