As long as the flexi racks aren't placed where the racks/components can act as an first reflection point, don't worry overly about them. You can't stop them reflecting but it tends to be the first reflections that are critical so ensure they don't give you a first reflection. Later reflections are much lower in level and less critical so you probably don't need to worry about them.Placing the racks in front of a diffusor on the wall midway between the speakers won't be an issue. The diffusor location is not a first reflection point so any reflections from the diffusor that are reflected by the rack which get to your ears have to be third reflections at least. Simply ensure that there are no first reflection points on the fronts of the racks which is highly unlikely if they are equidistant from each speaker.
If you want to use lower racks for other reasons like appearance, or you simply want to get better racks, definitley go ahead but I think you can avoid the problem you're currently worried about with sensible placement of your existing racks.
