A very inexpensive method is to use ceramic coffee or tea cups (set down on their opening, of course). You may already have legions of these, some unused, in your cupboards. Depending upon the length of your speaker cables, you might only need one or two cups per cable. And the cost? None....you already own them.And yes, they work....especially on carpeted floors. Static energy is reduced, and the music presentation can clear up nicely. Try and stay away from plastic of any kind. My believe is that plastics contribute to static electricity (especially when we walk across our carpeting), and plastic risers or elevators might attract that energy, and thus couple with your speaker cables.
