Re: I'm Trying the Cree SiC Diodes as Replacements

The buzz I'm getting from a number of friends, one an E.E. say they are better than the Motorola GaAs diodes,no longer made, which were crushers. The speed of the diode is largely immaterial : how fast a diode do you need to rectify 60 Hz. A.C. ? The real factor of merit is the diodes' slow turn off that produce much less nasties. The E.E said of the Cree Schottkys "...if you want to wring out that last bit of performance out of a unit these are the diodes to use. Your power supply is of paramount importance to the performance of a unit because, in the end, you are listening to your power supply. This is the second time someone has made a post Re.: the Cree Schottkys available for $5 a pop, but I have never found them for under $10. Please give us your source, if you can't I'm going to believe that you are Barbara Streisanding (B.S.) us.
