I understand the purpose of the 4 diodes in the rectifying bridge of the power supply where they convert AC to DC, but the Flying Mole also has 4 diodes (D1-D4) in a row near the output curcuitry, with 4 small inductors lined up next to them. Are these diodes also performing a switching function, or are they simply to prevent the reverse flow of current in the circuit, much as a check valve performs the same function in a flowing liquid stream? Please bear with me, I'm a chemist, not an EE.
