If the resistor is not inside the coax shield, or inside the metal barrel of the RCA phono plug, then it is not fully shielded, and COULD pick up RF or other interference signals.The best way to do this is to use metal barrel RCA plugs, and place the resistor inside the barrel, and close the open end of the barrel where the cable normally comes through with some copper or tin. Oc fcourse, do not letthe resistor touch the metal barrel, and better still, keepit away from the metal barrel as much as possible.
