Hi bartc, You might want to ditch the wood cones. I recommend that you try the "Big Fat Black Dot" product placed under your loudspeakers (without the wood cones that you mentioned). This particular footer has a very fast and transparent sonic signature while doing it's bigtime improvement as a loudspeaker footer. It's great for stand mount loudspeakers, too. I've found that a set of three per loudspeaker is a stable configuration (and perhaps more open sounding than four).
