I've been looking into building a high quality pair of speakers, but I'm confused about crossover design. Is it possible to put a passive crossover before the amplifier? I see plenty of websites recommending the virtues of active crossovers placed before the power amp but what about a passive one designed for the speaker? Would this be designed differently? Using smaller values for the crossover components?
