Wow thats interesting,I'm about to embark on a Gainclone myself.I assume your smoother caps, 1500uf ,is low.Many Amplifier P.S.U's I've seen use at least 10,000uf.Do you have a pair handy to try?Try connecting caps in paralell this adds their values.I did read somewhere of a loudspeaker crossover coil being used as a choke,wired in series (+ volts)between the two caps of a supply.This forms a PI filter.I've used one to remove hum,it worked very well.Let me know how it works out.
