Hey Rootbeer,I tried mouse balls with circular ceramic cups as bases. Did not find them to be effective. I just can't bring myself to spend big $'s on isolation products - have used everything from hockey pucks to superballs. I found sorbothane pads to be very effective. I have some 3/4" thick sorbothane sheet that was excess from an engineering project at work - cut into 1.25" square pads. I have these under all components with excellent result.
I found one source (have not tried) for reasonable priced sorbothane (Panda Thumb - see link). Also, Edmond Scientific sells 1/8" thick, 12"x 12" sorbo sheets for about 20 bucks. I have used this successfully as well. You can cut to size and stack - very simple to use. The key is to size so that you allow movement in both vertical and horizontal plane. Cheap enough to experiment with. Good luck.
