Crossovers and AC components are sensitive to mechanical resonances. If the box makes a toneless thud when rapped, then it is not adding coloration to your system. If you can hear a tone, though, then it will improve your sound to dampen the box panels. Dynamat X-treme is designed for automotive sheet metal, and may not work on wooden box panels. It did not work on a wooden Lovan shelf that I tried to dampen with it.Perhaps you can achieve significant damping by using Repti-sand in plastic bags instead of filling the whole thing with it.
My favorite isolation method is DIY roller blocks made with spoon bowls cemented to acrylic blocks. Polyurethane construction adhesive is cheap and hardens to an acoustically dead solid.
