Re: Any one try to DIY a Mana rack??

For a fast, punchy sound, consider trying to build a rack without shelves. What this means is a frame that is sized to support your components.

When I did that around 4 years ago, I had an aluminium fabricator weld a frame to my specifictions from 25 mm square aluminium extrusion and used threaded spikes at the foot of the legs for levelling. It worked extremely well but wasn't adjustable to allow for changing equipment.

There are a number of commercial metal shelf framing systems around that would allow adjustment and you could easily go a long way towards cloning something like the EquaRack from those systems. You could then use cones or something else between the frame and your components. Finite Elemente Ceraballs have had some favourable reviews here and they make a version with a groove in the base for sitting on the frames of their Spider rack which is another shelfless design, so you could even go for them if you chose a frame material of the right width.
