My systems always sound best around 1:30 in the morning..... Reason one seems to be that most everyone has turned off their lights on my power grid so the electricity is clean of most of the debris. Even with high quality transformer based line conditioners the sound is still better at 1:30 in the morning. How I wish we were 220 volts! or 12 volts DC for that matter!!!!Second the air is cold, and dense.
Third, the environment is generally quieter. Less noise from neighbors and streets. I need to live out in the countryside!!!!
Now to answer your question. I use a 4 humidifiers in a room to get the humidity up to 50-60 percent and use the airconditioner to chill the room air. The air conditioner also dehumidifies. So I end up with about 35-40% humidity in normal practice when I listen for 2-3 hours.
In Arizona you may well be running the air conditioner 24/7. And you should run the humidifiers anytime you plan to listen carefully.
I am in Reno Nevada. Being at high elevation the air is dense and cool in the evenings but can be very dry and thin during the day. I work during the day so this is ok. Most of my listening is from 6pm to 10 pm.
Hope this helps.
