I believe all acoustical products have to have a acoustic coefficient printed on the box. This is a good way to compare different materials.Usually, ceiling tiles will absorb high frequencies pretty well, but not so much with the lower frequencies. Owens Corning 703/705 is about the best cost/effectiveness ratio.
