1) Those blinds that are duofold in their densest (light blocking) thickness.
2) Vertical blinds.I find the verticals are great for blocking most light when you want it and least light when you don't. They're inexpensive and easy to mount permanently (yes, I know that's not exactly what you requested). They work well even open to give light, but mitigate first reflections, when you angle them properly. In short, they do the job quite well and aren't that bad to look at, depending upon your WAF and style.
In my room I have at least 10' of sliding glass doors, and I find the verticals do the trick quite well.
