This is a very interesting phenomenon. So far from my experiences with Audioquest DBS, Omega Mikro "active shield," and Aural Thrills active cables, I can draw a couple of subjective conclusions.1. Voltage matters. The higher the applied voltage, the more the "effect," the effect being more refined/feathery/smoother treble and more bass power and better imaging/soundstaging. There is a point, for each system, this can be too much of a good thing.
2. DBS isn't necessarily "better" in all cases. For example, my current system configuration sounds "better" with DBS turned off. Just another tool to help fine tune a system, but do try it yourself before spending the $$$ usually associated.
