Ordinary Teflon Plumbers tape makes an excellent tonearm wrap it does add a small degree of effective mass but more importantly will
tame high frequency tonearm resonances. Electrical tape as well as
shrink wrap will work also but are generally a little too heavy IMHO
and with the tape the mastic is problematic should you decide to remove it you'll have the gooey mastic residuum to deal with
I find adding a glob of Blu-Tack under the headshell works nicely for more mass sticking a dime in it is effective, for the more neurotic type A analophile,a cryo'd vintage dime is best,and be sure to do the application on a waneing Moon ;-)
