This wrap applied to a Rega 250 arm made a profound improvement in the resolution. It added a little mass, but I think the improvement resulted from damping the arm tube's resonance. It was easy to apply, and instead of the spiral springs, I just used a short piece of self-adhesive silicone tape from Radio Shack at the end of the spiral wrap. The beginning of the spiral captures the end of the damping tape under the first turn.
Adding mass without improving the damping will simply lower the resonance modes of the arm and perhaps harm the sound.
