Tweakers' Asylum Tweaks for systems, rooms and Do It Yourself (DIY) help. FAQ. |
|
Hi everyone, let me start by whishing you all the best for the holidays.
I'm suffering from a 10dB bass bump centered aournd 60Hz in my listening room. I have been considering bass traps to correct the issue but due to the frequency involved, they would need to be rather large to have any effect. The problem is that my listening room is 11x12 feets. I know it is quite small but I have to live with what I got. I don't have much space left in the room to put them. I have to forget corners as they are already filled with some kind of furniture. The room opens on the dinning room and the kitchen by a large opening on a side wall. This make a L shaped room.
Would any bass trap be effective if placed in the dinning room? Can I consider mounting them on the ceilling in the listening room?
I am kind of consfused here because my case doesn't seems to fit with the information provided in this forum or anywhere else on the web.
I would apreciate any input from you guys. I'm relatively new to this hobby. I'm working on my first real hi-fi system for the last two years. I did some DIY stuff like cables, subwoofer, isolation, power conditioning and electronic tweaks. I'm quite happy with my current setup but everytime I listen to music I anticipate bass boom and this is a major frustration for me since it doesn't sound natural. I have tried equalisation in the bass frequencies but with little success only.
Thanks
Alex
