I drive my Maggie IIIA 3-way active with DIY kit amps - the AKSA 100N for the base, the 55N for the mid and the 25N for the ribbon.You can see the AKSA 100 at:
http://www.aksaonline.com/products/products_aksa100.htmlThis amp is "rated at" 100wpc but its power supply is designed for high short-term currents, so it really kicks base ass!
The IIIA base panel LP filter is 18dB at 300Hz - ie. my amp is taking more load than yours would, due to the lower cutoff point - and it never gets more than warm ... so it's not getting maxed out, even with the 4ohm load.
AKSAs come as a complete kit - ie. PCB, parts (except for the heavy things like power transformers and case) and very good instructions. You can email Hugh Dean, the designer, on:
