If the thing that is causing the rack/shelf to vibrate is the music from the speakers; then what good is it to have a really great isolation rack/shelf if the music itself would also be vibrating the equipment and all the parts in it directly through the air? I think if you really think about it you will see that the effects of racks/shelves are greatly exaggerated. IMO. Also as you mention it really becomes silly to have a great vibration free rack/shelf (if that were even possible) and then isolate the equipemnent from it. You would be better off clamping it to the rack/shelf somehow in that instance. The above is my opinion. No need to flame.
