The previous respondents are correct i.e. the pop you are hearing isn't a Gd. loop, nor caused by one; it is from the arcing of an A.C. switch(s). You can eliminate this in several ways. Perhaps the simplest would be to replace the offending switch(s) with an arc-less switch such as a mercury or 'silent switch' (one that doesn't go "click" when it is thrown). Another method is to install a 0.01 uF ceramic cap accross the contacts of the offending switch(s). This cap should be rated @ 1,000 volts to prevent mishaps such as fire, explosions, earthquakes, civil unrest, etc. DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING, AND FIRST CUT THE POWER TO THAT SWITCH(s) AT YOUR SERVICE PANEL !!! You might also try installing a 0.01 uF ceramic cap in series with an 8 ohm carbon comp. R from the RCA plug to chassis that your Tuner connects to your preamp. This is done inside the preamp enclosure and should safely conduct RF to Gd. before it reaches the preamp circuitry.Happy Listening !
