Do all L-pads have same taper?

I'm replacing the L-pads that control the tweet and mid levels in some JBL L-166's. I was wondering whether all L-pads of identical specs (15W 8-ohm in this case) have the same kind of taper, in which case I would just install them in the same position as the old ones. Otherwise, I will have to ask a tech to make sure that they have the same resistance as the old ones when the controls are set to flat, and it may cost me more, or I will have to buy an ohmmeter myself. TIA.
